Welcome to my website!   On this page I will introduce myself and give a brief biography.

Saye Piano Teaching began business in August, 1993, with three family friends, and has grown to over forty children, teenagers and adults who enjoy learning music and performing on the keyboard.  Mr. Saye has a college degree with an emphasis in music, and is an active performer as a church pianist and organist, and serves as treasurer of his music teachers association, EMTA. With his many referrals over the years for patient and thorough pedagogue he has kept very busy, and usually has room for more each year, particularly at the beginning of the school year in September.

Mr. Saye uses the Alfred Piano Basics method of piano pedagogy, Celebration Series and for upper level students, the Keith Snell Repertoire, as well as other methods that transfer students use when joining his studio.  All levels are taught, from age four with the Music For Little Mozart series which takes a gradual approach to learning the keyboard, to level ten of the great classical works such as Liszt, Chopin, Beethoven and J.S. Bach intended for teenagers and adults.  Other styles, such as country, jazz/RB, popular, New Age, sacred and composition are taught alongside the traditional classical literature.  Hanon finger strengthening exercises are given at the second level, or when the student is ready, as well as scales/chords/arpeggios in all keys and ear training for all students, to improve aural perception and musicality.

Students may participate in the two studio recitals in the spring and winter of each year, as well as smaller theme based events such as the Halloween and Valentine recitals which are held in homes.  The Time Era Festival, which this year features the Romantic Era, as well as adjudications, the music carnival and concerto/ensemble festival, all sponsored by the Edmonds Music Teachers Association, allow students a chance to perform polished and memorized pieces before a judge for evaluation and award.

Saye Piano Teaching involves the instructor solely traveling to the homes in the Greater Puget Sound Area, namely north of 145th Street NE in Seattle, WA on the west side,  to 128th Street in Everett, and on the East side to Highway 9 and north of Interstate 90 in Sammamish/Bellevue.

Music education has proven benefits which have been documented in laboratory testing, including improved performance academically in school, higher SAT and ACT scores for college entrance, reduced stress and even measured increases of human growth hormone in senior adults.  Click on the link below, to read of this research.  Mr. Saye gave these two presentations to EMTA several years ago, and last April:
